Get involved

As a member of the IWC, you are asked to participate in your group's bar duty once a year and to pay your dues on time. The rest is up to you. Obviously, the more active you are, the more you can get out of the Club. There are numerous activities and interest groups available, and you are more than welcome to set up one of your own. The area groups, in particular, can be very helpful in settling in and making those first important contacts.

Interests

Porcelain Painting
Anybody interested in learning a new skill and who would be interested in joining a class, please contact Morag C. for more information. The very professional lessons are given by a Dutch lady. She has had a very international life, so you will feel very welcome in her home.

Bridge Playgroup
If you are an enthusiastic bridge player you should come and join us. We meet at each other’s homes, once or twice a month. If you are interested please phone or e-mail Monique L..

Ladies Night Out
For many of our working/studying IWC members who are unable to join in daytime activities, we have decided to start a Ladies Night Out. The idea is for a small group of newcomers, as well as old timers, to get together informally one evening a month, either in town or at someone's house and do something 'gezellig' - watch a movie, go out for dinner, or just sit around and talk. The date, time, place and activity will be announced on our website, rather than in the newsletter, so be sure to check it regularly. Contact Yvonne W. for more details.

Book Club
Ladies, are you an enthusiastic reader looking for a chance to talk about books, pick up reading suggestions and meet new friends? You do not need to be a book critic to join the Book Club, just a book lover! We always welcome new members into our group, which meets approximately every six weeks in the evening from
8.00p.m. We have also shared favourite poetry and will at future sessions. Any poets/poems welcome! Please contact Jane R. for information about our first meeting.

West Limburg Cooking Group
We meet once a month at each other's homes to prepare and enjoy new dishes. The group is open to all and to reserve call Amelia de C. or the person hosting that month's lunch. Please see Activities for this month's agenda.

Country Walks
The country walk is organised every month, usually in the 3rd week on a different day. It is a walk of approximately 1½ hour that will lead you through the most beautiful parts of South Limburg. It is a nice way of getting to know the area. For details of the walk see elsewhere in the newsletter. Contact Gerry B. or Yvonne J.

Evolution Psychology
During the summer, we have been examining our thoughts and the way we think. Many of our thoughts are worrying thoughts, which are harmful to our physical and psychological health. We will work on the way we think, in order to improve the quality of our lives through theory, meditation and exercises; sometimes in
a playful manner, but always with respect and love. This takes place in my home. If you are interested in joining us, please contact
Gordana L.

Maastricht International Playgroup

Maastricht International Playgroup is an English-speaking, non-profit group of expatriate and Dutch parents, carers, and parents to be.  Our primary aim is to provide a safe and fun environment for our children to play in, but there is also plenty of opportunity for parents and carers to socialise and support each other. In addition to our weekly meetings, we organise regular social events such as Coffee Mornings, Mums' Night Out, Second Hand sales, Halloween Parties, and excursions further afield. To keep everybody up-to-date on our happenings, our newsletter MIPMIP! is posted to members' every month.  For more information have a look at our website http://mip.f-sw.com alternatively contact us by e-mail: mipmip@home.nl or phone Joanne on 0641 388088
