Volunteers for Preuvenemint culinary festival needed (Aug 26-29) - Free food, drinks and goodies!

Hi everyone!

As many of you may know, Preuvenemint is the huge culinary festival that takes place every summer on the Vrijthof here in Maastricht, and this year will be held from Thursday August 26th until Sunday August 29th. The theme will be Colorful tasting and for the first time 13 of the restaurants have adopted a local kitchen of a country in the world (examples are Brazil, Morocco, Surinam, etc.) Because of their international theme this year, Karin van der Ven, the manager of Jules & You (who is partnering with the festival organizers), has asked me to invite IWC members to participate in this exciting festival.

Here is the information:
The Preuvenemint is looking for volunteers from the different countries to help out for one or multiple days in serving the guests, and giving the whole festival a colorful atmosphere. Every day they need 2 volunteers (so a total of 8) for every restaurant. The countries involved are: Philippines, Argentina, Brazil, Morocco, Turkey, South Africa, Tunisia, Italy, France, India and Spain.

They would preferably look for women from these countries to help out in the restaurant that has adopted the country, but women from different countries than the ones named above are also more than welcome to join! People can work in pairs, and speaking Dutch is absolutely not a requirement.

Volunteers will be compensated with plenty of food and drinks, and a bag full of fair trade goodies!!!
If anyone is interested in participating in this, please let me know and I will put you in touch with Karin for all the details. This is a very festive event and is certain to be a lot of fun!

Hope you all are enjoying the summer and I look forward to hearing from you!

A message from former IWC Eilat Schiff to all members:

I would like to take this opportunity to say something to all IWC members as I happen to be visiting Maastricht for two weeks. I was a member of the club for six years and we left in 2005. We feel that we've made the right decision to go back and we live now a full life in our homeland with our people and culture. But I would like to thank the club for being my home and a listening ear, for giving me friendship and emotional support during those special and adventurous six years of my life. I hope that the club will still exist for many years to come to give support to other women who live away from home. I was surprised to see that everybody remembered me and welcomed me although four years have passed, and it's nice to see that you have all stayed as young as ever. With love, from Eilat Schiff, Tel Aviv, Israel.
